HVAC West Midlands – Anechoic Chamber in Warwick
HVAC West Midlands – ICE Ltd have just completed a HVAC project at an education facility in Warwick, West Midlands.
The project involved the installation of several fan coil units to provide temperature control and the installation of supply and extract ductwork to provide ventilation, to rooms within an anechoic chamber.
An anechoic chamber is a space designed to completely absorb reflections of either sound or electromagnetic waves.
To serve the Main Simulator Room, we installed two inverter driven, high static, ducted type, 4-pipe fan coil units. The units together provided a total capacity of 13.40kw in cooling and 9.24kw in heating.
We installed the ducted units external to the chamber with ductwork ran in a bulk head before entering the chambers through waveguides. Return air back to the unit was via a louvered grill and again through a waveguide.
Control was of the system was via a single wall mounted Siemens controller.
To serve the Control/Hardware room, we installed two inverter driven, under ceiling type, 4-pipe fan coil units. The units together provided a total capacity of 12.12kw in cooling and 17.54kw in heating.
Control of the systems was via individual wall mounted Siemens controllers.
The above fan coil units were served by chilled water on at 7C and returning at 12C and LPHW on at 70C and returning at 60C. ICE Ltd installed all chilled/LPHW pipework from the main central plant to the fan coil units including all valves, commissioning sets, strainers and insulation.
The equipment selected on this project was manufactured by Quartz.
Also within our scope of works was the installation of fresh ventilation to the anechoic chamber. We installed both supply and return ductwork from the buildings central plant to the necessary areas, before balancing all air flow rates via volume control dampers.
