Pharmaceutical Air Conditioning Project, York
Pharmaceutical Air Conditioning Project – Industrial Cooling Equipment Ltd have recently completed an air conditioning project for a leading pharmaceutical company, at their warehouse facility in York.
Our scope of works was to provide a temperature controlled environment in line with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) temperature range of between 15°C and 25°C.
The areas where temperature control was required was within the Main Warehouse along with the Dispatch Area and also the Goods In area.
Our engineering team supplied, installed and commissioned a series of DX fan coil units operating on a low GWP refrigerant, equally spaced out throughout the warehouse. Each fan coil unit is feeding a 500mm diameter, fabric air sock in a specified RAL colour to match our clients branding scheme. The socks provide evenly distributed, conditioned air throughout the building to maintain the required conditions.
Due to the high apex roof of the warehouse, we installed 14x de-stratification fans to push the hot air downward when in heating. The de-stratification fans were linked to a thermostatic controller and sensors, to operate when the temperature increased above a specified set point so the fans only ran when required.
We also installed two over door air curtains in both the Dispatch and Goods In areas, to ensure temperatures are maintained whilst doors are open for loading vehicles.
The project was completed during the Covid 19 pandemic, which made the project slightly more difficult due to engineers wearing additional PPE and maintaining social distance.
ICE are specialists in the design of temperature control systems for the storage of drugs for the pharmaceutical industry. From large warehouses operating at 15°C to 25°C, chillstores at 2°C to 8°C and freezers at -25°C.
