R22 Replacement – Deadline approaching

In 2015 the use of Recycled R-22 refrigerant will be illegal! Are You Ready?

As you are probably aware the use of virgin R22 refrigerant in any refrigeration or air conditioning system, for service or maintenance purposes is illegal, but as of 1st January 2015, the use of Recycled R-22 will also become illegal, forcing companies with R22 equipment to act.

Why is R-22 refrigerant coming to an end?

R-22 is the most widely used refrigerant in the world, however it is classified as an ozone-depleting substance and is subject of a phase-out programme under European Community (EC) Regulation no. S.2037/2000 and 1005/2009.

What does this mean for your business?

In 2015, if you have equipment still running on R22 you will be forced to act. With the total ban coming, many manufacturers are reducing their costs by stopping spares support already for R22 systems.

For businesses with these systems installed now is the time to seriously consider what to do next, and plan either a complete or phased replacement schedule.

How can ICE help?

ICE can provide guidance and assistance with our R22 Replacement programme, to ensure you make the right decision for your business.

Our design engineers can conduct a site survey and audit of your existing R22 equipment and provide you with the various options available. After a site survey we would provide you with a detailed and competitive Replacement Programme. This would include projections of energy and carbon savings, along with and details of how the ECA (enhanced capital allowances) scheme or our Finance Options can assist with the initial capital costs.
