Refcom works with EA to stamp out F-Gas non-compliance
Refcom and the Environment Agency (EA) are now proactively searching for non-compliant companies dealing with F-Gases. The two bodies are working closely together in an effort to stamp out non-compliance of the F-Gas Regulations, focusing on all companies who have not yet complied with the regulation, including online companies.
Complaints
Refcom and the Environment Agency (EA) are now proactively searching for non-compliant companies dealing with F-Gases. The EA has taken a proactive stance on enforcement and since working closely with the leading F-Gas registration body their combined efforts have seen them chase down four former Refcom accredited companies who held interim accreditation but did not upgrade to full certification. Refcom Secretary Steve Crocker has developed a close working relationship with the EA’s Sheffield office, which is now central to dealing with all non-compliant activity.
In the past four weeks, Refcom has also assisted the EA with its investigation into web based firms who have offered incorrect DIY instruction for the installation of split systems containing HFC’s. The instructions were contrary to the F-Gas regulation and those companies have had to change their website information accordingly.
Steve said: “This may only be a small number at present but we can assure the industry at large that the EA are proactively searching for not only companies who did not upgrade but also those who trade online.”
