Dry Coolers

Dry Coolers are finned heat exchangers used to reject heat from process plant cooling systems. A water/glycol mix is pumped around a closed circuit and by using fans to pass ambient air over the finned surfaces, a reduction in temperature is achieved. This process is often referred to as Free Cooling.

Dry Coolers are often chosen in preference to wet systems/cooling towers, as they negate the risk of bacterial growth (e.g. Legionella) and require a minimal level of maintenance.

Dry Coolers can also be used in conjunction with a water chiller to provide free cooling when the ambient temperature is low enough
